Golfers look out over Rancho Mirage landscape

Rancho Mirage is a golfer’s paradise, with enough courses to keep even the most avid players entertained for a lifetime.

Located just south of Palm Springs, this historic California town is nestled at the foot of the awe-inspiring Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains in the Coachella Valley.

The natural beauty of the area and the numerous varied courses are the main draws that keep golfers from all over the world coming back to tee off in this peaceful, laid back city.

To make sure you aren’t missing out on the best golf courses in Rancho Mirage, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite fairways.

Sunrise Country Club

This extravagant community located just off the conveniently named Country Club Drive is a portal to paradise — at least, that’s what it’s long and growing list of members believe.

With 18 holes located in the shadow of the gentle Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains, Sunrise Country Club boasts all the amenities you’ll need.

With an on-site driving range, 21 swimming pools and 19 spas, you’ll be considering a membership before you’re on your way to the second hole.

And you can feel good about going green on the green, as this is the first solar powered country club in the Coachella Valley!

Mission Hills North — Gary Player Signature Course

This unique course design takes full advantage of it’s 7,600 yard space by molding the course to fit the environment without sacrificing it’s integrity.

Waterfalls, lakes and brooks wind their way through this natural paradise that keeps golfers on their toes with exciting water hazards placed on 10 of the 18 holes.

While this pristine course caters to golfers of all levels, Mission Hills has qualified instructors on-site that you can book lessons with to improve your game if your ball keeps landing in the water on this water-heavy course.

Rancho Las Palmas Golf Course

Less than ten minutes away from Palm Springs, this incredible course is located just off Highway 111 and offers three courses, so soaking in the full beauty of these courses requires a few days.

Drive, putt and chip your way through this lush oasis splayed out across 6,400 yards of incredible scenery, including iconic architecture and placid lakes against the unbeatable backdrop of the San Jacinto and San Bernardino mountains.

And since it’s located on a resort, you can take some time to unwind at the end of the day with a trip to the pool, spa and restaurant all located on the hotel grounds.

The S at Rancho Mirage

One of the most beautiful courses in the Palm Springs area, The S was designed by Desmond Muirhead. Muirhead was named “the most innovative golf course architect of the last 100 years” by Golf World, and this course is a testament to that.

With no houses in sight and a majestic mountain backdrop, these 18 holes unfold beautifully through mature trees in a park-like setting.

Tamarisk Country Club

As soon as you set foot on the green at Tamarisk, you’re walking on history.

The second 18-hole private club in the Coachella Valley, Tamarisk may be a significant part of the reason Rancho Mirage is called “the playground of presidents.”

Eisenhower, Truman, Kennedy and Ford (who became a club member) all teed off at this renowned club.

And with 18 holes of breathtaking scenery, it’s not hard to see what they found appealing. Pristine fairways are complemented by lush palm trees, while transparent lakes reflect the sublime mountain range that serves as the background to this stunning course.

Whether you’re gunning for the PGA or you’re still perfecting your swing, Rancho Mirage is any enthusiastic golfer’s dream.
