History Of El Rancho Vista Estates Homes For Sale
Much of the initial development in this community occurred between 1959 and 1960. During this time, approximately sixty Modern houses designed by famed architects Donald Wexler and Ric Harrison were constructed by developer Roy Fey. The intention of this Modernist tract development was to bring a high-end Modernist style to the working class. As such, there are three main models that can be purchased. Many of these models include luxury features such as in-ground pools and master-landscaped yards. Wexler himself still owns a house in this neighborhood, which is a strong indication that even Wexler recognizes this neighborhood as one of the finest he designed in Palm Springs. Later, in the 1970s, other ranch-style homes more typical of California were added to the neighborhood.
Starting in the 2000s, this community and the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation have been working together to create one of the best restored Modernist neighborhoods in the city. Many of the houses here have been dramatically remodeled in order to recapture their original charm. Today, these houses are impressive. The exteriors are crafted from white stone and custom brickwork, and many feature the classic butterfly roof. Floor-to-ceiling glass exposures, and clerestory windows ensure that these homes are airy and bright inside. Interiors are decorated with redwood ceilings characteristic of the building style, and spacious floorplans offer residents ample opportunity to live, play, and relax in comfort.
