Different Wildflowers Around Palm Springs

Cheesebush

Cheesebush is a wildflower that grows in the Palm Desert. The plant has a cheese-like scent when you crush the tip of the stem. It is also called Cheeseweed, Burro Bush, and Desert Pearl. The Cheesebush blooms in spring and can be seen at the Joshua Tree National Park.

Bladderpod

Bladderpod originates in Southern California and Baja California. This plant blossoms during spring. It is a shrub that can grow to over six feet in height and has a fascinating scent. Other names for this wildflower are California Cleome and Burrofat. You can find this wildflower in the Coachella Valley Preserve, Thousand Palms, and Box Canyon Road.

Chuckwalala's Delight

This wildflower is sometimes called Sweetbush. It is a perennial that blooms in summer. You can find Chuckwalala's Delight near desert canyons and slopes. It has a similar head to a daisy and can grow up to 4 feet tall.

Desert Dandelion

The desert dandelion is a native wildflower of California. It grows 14 inches tall and has yellow flower heads. It looks very attractive during the rainy season. You'll see it in spring at the Anza-Borrego State Park. Visit the Palm Canyon Trail to spot these beautiful wildflowers.

Primrose

Primroses grow in the Palm Desert. They usually thrive in sandy and arid areas. Specifically, the brown-eyed Primrose grows in Coachella Valley. They have grayish-green leaves and a dark brown center. It can grow up to 16 inches in height.

Palo Verde

Palo Verde is a tree that bears vibrant, yellow pea-shaped flowers. It has two species, namely Blue Paloverde and Texas Paloverde. The wildflowers are in Indian Canyons Golf Resort and North Palm Canyon Drive.

California Poppy

The California Poppy has gray to green foliage and grows up to 12 inches tall. The flower has an orange, yellow, or cream color. You can find this pretty wildflower at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve.

Plan your visit around March to mid-May, when the wildflowers around Palm Springs fully bloom!
